Emilia
Romagna can easily be divided into two completely
different sections. In the South it is mainly
mountainous while in the North it is cultivated
plains.
On
the Adriatic shoreline we also find two contrasting
aspects: the wild and silent one of the lagoons
and that of the overcrowded beaches marked by
the numerous tourist structures along the coast.
The
main road in Emilia Romagna is the Via Emilia. Most of the
large cities of Emilia Romagna are found along it and the
railway and motorway run parallel to it. There are several
branches off these main lines of communication towards the
neighbouring Regions. Bologna is the main hub where most
of the roads meet. There are two airports, one in Bologna
(Borgo Panigale) and the other at Rimini.
