Most of Liguria is mountainous
and hilly, divided by beautiful valleys which
run down to the area coastal plain. The mountainous
zone is introduced barren, with little vegetation.
The city centres are distant
from each other, often separated by the the
hills and mountains.
Even if the Region is
bathed by two seas, it does not have any really
large ports or cities apart from Genova.
The climate is mild
thanks to the sea breezes that freshen the Summer and soften
the Winter and thanks to the mountains which protect the
coast from the cold Northern winds. This climate is ideal
for an evergreen vegetation, such as the marine pine or
the olive trees that are found frequently along the coast
of Liguria.
