Lombardy
is very rich with water. Rivers come down from
the mountains quickly, but they are slowed down
by the lakes and the many irrigation channels
that cross the plain to water the crops.
On
the plain you will often find fog, a phenomenon
typical of the Po Valley. This rather miserable
occurance is made up for by the pleasant and
panoramic area of the lakes which enjoy a mild
climate.
Nearly
all of the routes linking Italy with Europe
pass through Lombardy, more specifically Milan. Moreover,
Milan is served by three international airports:
Malpensa, Linate and Orio al
Serio, Bergamo
